Hamas Terror Cell Smashed in Northern Samaria

A large scale and active Hamas terror cell, focused on carrying out attacks across a wide area in Israel has been uncovered and dismantled by the Israel Security Agency (ISA), the IDF, an d the Israel Police.

The terror cell which numbered 20 people was active from October 2017 until its members were detained in late April 2018. Most of the cell’s members belonged to Hamas; some had extensive experience in terrorist operations including the production of explosives and IEDs.

Investigations of the suspects carried out by the ISA revealed that the terror cell intended to carry out attacks thoughout Israel including a bomb attack in Tel Aviv, a suicide attack in Jerusalem, a bomb attack in Itamar, and shooting attacks in Samaria.

These attacks were thwarted, some at the last minute, due to the arrest of the group’s members.

In the course of the above investigations various IEDs were seized, including one weighing 10 kilograms and which was to be operated by a cellular phone, as well as approximately 15 kilograms of explosive material, raw materials for the production of explosives, weapons and instructions for the manufacture of bombs and explosive materials.(See attached photos.)

In addition to the main terror cell, other Hamas cells who were planning to carry out attacks were also uncovered.

The Shchem based terror cell was led by two local Hamas members Mutassem Nuhammad Salem, 35 and Fares Kamil Zavidi, 33, who recruited the other members and were responsible for both planning the attacks and manufacturing the IEDs.

A senior ISA officer said: “This case again shows the desire and efforts that Hamas is investing in building terrorist infrastructures in Judea and Samaria in order to carry out severe attacks in Israel. This case also indicates Hamas’ desire to carry out attacks against Israeli targets while undermining the current relative quiet. Severe attacks and loss of life have been prevented. We, along with our partners in the IDF and Israel Police, will continue to take determined action to thwart Hamas’s murderous intentions. Infrastructure members will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law.

Two Soldiers Murdered by Arab Terrorists in Northern Samaria

Just before Shabbat on Friday, an Arab terrorist rammed his car into four soldiers killing two and injuring the other two.  Captain Ziv Deus, 21 and Sergeant Netanal Kahalani, 20 were said to have no time to respond to the uncomming Arab attack that killed them.  The scene of the attack was near the Israeli community of Mevo Dotan and Arab village of Ya’bad.

“From the depths of my heart, I send condolences to the families of the IDF officer and soldier who were murdered yesterday by a reprehensible terrorist and my best wishes for a quick recovery to the wounded. We will work to demolish the home of the terrorist and will deal with him to the fullest extent of the law.”

The Arab terrorist initially fled the scene but was later caught.

“We need the death penalty,” he said. “It does not help to destroy homes, and it does not help to feed them on the State’s bill. We need to throw his family into the sea. If no decision is made, this will continue. It’s time to put and end to this. I don’t know if I should send my youngest son to the army, or if he should stay home with me.”

The Next Destruction: Homes in the Community of Tal Binyamin will be destroyed in 4 months

In the next four months, 15 buildings are slated for destruction in Tal Binyamin (Tapuach West), in Samaria. So far, the residents don’t know where they will be going or if they will be able to build new homes in the areas allotted to them in a High Court decision.

Twenty years ago, young families moved up to the “Tal Binyamin” hill (named after Talya and Binyamin Kahane HY”D, who were murdered in a shooting attack in 2001), just west of Kfar Tapuach, with the assistance of the Settlement Division, in accordance with decisions made by the State. One of those families were Rivka and Moshe Herzlich. Moshe is the brother of Talya Kahane HY”D, after whom the outpost is named.

There are currently 10 families there, and many children. Three years ago, Palestinians from a nearby village petitioned the courts to claim ownership of the land. The State’s decision was that some of the homes deviated just tens of meters outside of State land. As a result, the family homes in Tal Binyamin were declared to be outside of State lands. In the meantime, the Court ruled that the 15 buildings on the hill, including 9 homes and 6 buildings used for agricultural purposes, sheds, etc. must be evacuated, destroyed and rebuilt – moved to within State lands. Some of the mobile structures will be rebuilt only 50-100 meters away (from where they are now). The evacuation is to be completed within 4 months (until 22 June).

In the State’s response, it was said that the State is moving to legalize the area by officiallydeclaring it  State land. The State is moving to prepare an area of about 1000 dunam near the settlement, to be allocated to the local council to build a neighborhood. At the end of the process, the long-awaited legalization is to take place, and hundreds more residential units will be able to be built on the site.

The problem is that the road that links the neighborhood and the settlement, passes through land under survey. The State has until 22 April to present an affidavit to the Court that the survey procedures have ended and that the land can be declared.

The home of the Herzlichs, who have 8 children, is slated for destruction because it cannot be replicated. The family has to prepare and build an alternative home only 50 meters away from its present location. In practice, however, the proposal has yet to be realized due to bureaucratic problems. This is despite the fact that the Ministry of Defense is making every effort to complete procedures as soon as possible.

The Director of the Samarian Regional Council this week informed Herzlich that according to a new decision, there are changes that have been made to the agricultural areas, so that not all the structures involved in agriculture can be moved to the new area.

The Herzlich family is presently conducting a mass fundraising campaign via the crowdfunding platform JGive    ,to replicate their home in its new location. According to them, within a week they will start construction of their new home, which will be done simply and quickly in order to meet the deadline.

ON THE FRONTLINES: The Internationality of Khirbet Susiya

Khirbet Susiya

A recent NGO Monitor article highlighted the amount of money and organizations dedicated to establishing the Arab narrative in Khirbet Susiya (Susya) as fact.  The list is not a surprise.  The usual suspects range from Rabbis for Human Rights to B’Tzelem.

Despite the clearly anti-Israel bent of these organizations the cause has become top priority for the American leftwing anti-Israel organization J Street, which has called its members to take action and pressure the US Administration to stop Israel from removing the illegal squatters. The backing of this initiative, which seeks to erase Jewish history in the area should be a wake up call for those who have bought into J Streets claim they are really pro Israel.

With the Israeli Supreme Court known for its anti-settlement rulings in the past, now ruling in favor of removing the squatters, one has to wonder what these organizations have to gain. There is one clear objective here and it is not to stop the demolition of the arab tent village next to Khirbet Susiya, rather the goal of the Europeans and the American administration is to call doubt into the connection between the people of Israel and Judea and Samaria.

By setting up camp next to or on known Jewish historical sites in Judea and Samaria as well as within the 1948 boundaries of Israel and then claim them as Arab, they hope to push back on Israel’s indigenous claims to the land of Israel. If the government fails to remove the internationally backed squatters from Khirbet Susiya, it will open the door to a wide scale attempt by the international community to disconnect the Jewish Nation from its historically indigenous land.

Breaking News: Israel Uncovers Hamas Suicide Cell in Jerusalem

Facebook Photo Makes Waves in the Arab World

Arabs from around the Middle East agree: Israel is not our enemy.  Over 100 thousand likes support an image showing the difference between the suffering of an Arab prisoner of a Syrian jail and Samir Kuntar in an Israeli prison. The difference is clear, the Syrian prisoner looks starved and frail, while Kuntar is plump.  Arabs are finally waking up to the realization that Israel is not their enemy. Let’s see if the trend continues.

Turkey is Playing Games with Rapprochement

Well the fabled rapprochement seems to be stuck in neutral.  Turkey is wiggling for room, but cannot have it both ways.  More likely than not this won’t go anywhere, especially since Russia and Israel are collaborating on far deeper level than originally thought.

Dermer Gives Obama Some Unexpected Holiday Gifts

Ron Dermer, the Israelis Ambassador to the USA, gave the White House presents for the holidays.  There is only one thing, they were all gifts produced in Judea, Samaria, and the Golan.

Terror War Continues in Samaria

The latest attack occurred outside the community of Avnei Hafetz.  Residents of the Old City of Jerusalem had been visiting their daughter in Aveni Hafetz when their car came under fire.  The idea that these attacks are lone wolf has become preposterous. The government has in word moved on from this theory, but has not been able to crack the forward momentum of the Arab war across the Land of Israel.  Terror is merely a tactic to be employed to instill fear in the wider public.  Treating terror with band aid or reactive measures will not work.  Only a complete offensive campaign will crush the Jihadist cells and force Abu Mazen (aka Mahmoud Abbas) to sue for peace.  Sadly the government is far reaching this conclusion.

Obama Has Publicly Moved on From Peace in His Time

Obama might have used his time with President Reuven Rivlin repairing his relationship with Israel by saying all the platitudes necessary, but he has squandered years trying to push something on both sides that has no reality on the ground. Sadly if Obama wanted real peace, the One State Solution is the only way forward.

Bibi is Walking a Tight Rope by Meeting Donald Trump

Although the meeting is three weeks away, furor over Trump’s opposition to allowing Muslim immigration while global Jihad is on the march has drawn the ire of just about everyone in the elite wing of both the Democrats and Republicans. Bibi cannot cancel the meeting and it is not his style.  Whether or not Trump always presents issues in a nuanced manner, a vast amount of Israelis agree with the current Republican front runner. Bibi understands this and while he needs to balance the meeting with some PC statement in order to assuage the White House, the meeting will go forward.
